New Zealand Attractions

Being just a short flight from Australia, New Zealand is a perfect destination for all the tourists. The country is the largest island in the world but at the same time its attractions are located within relatively short driving distances. Moderate climate makes your stay in the country comfortable. Try to deep in the culture and history of New Zealand visiting museums, galleries, historic sites, taking part in Maori culture performances, having rest and enjoying splendid nature in beautiful public gardens and parks of the country. Auckland offers the visitors a wide range of sightseeing, shopping, dining and entertainment options. The city has a list of famous museums among which the Auckland City Art Gallery, the Heritage Gallery, the Auckland War Memorial Museum, the Museum of Transport and Technology. The city is never more than half an hour drive from the coast, which makes it a perfect spot for beach activities. The offshore islands of Rangitoto, Tiritiri Matangi, Kawau or Waiheke are also worth visiting.

First of all Wellington is the capital of New Zealand and only then it is its cultural, commercial, and cosmopolitan centre. The city can not boast having a lot of historical sights, but on the other hand Wellington houses numerous cafés and restaurants, has vivid nightlife and is characterized by rich artistic culture.

The major landmark of Christchurch is Cathedral Square, which is dominated by a great Gothic-styled structure. The other sights include the Aquarium of Discovery and the Botanic Gardens. The best way to explore the city is by tram, because there are several restored trams, offering visitors a unique sightseeing experience.

Do not waste time and enjoy the exquisite alpine beauty and the highest mountain in New Zealand, visiting Mt Cook National Park. One third of park’s territory is covered with ice; there the visitors also have the opportunity to see the Tasman Glacier, which is the longest glacier outside of the polar regions. If you are eager to explore other glaciers, go to Queenstown. It is famous for the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers, located in the Westland National Park. If you still hesitate where to go: to the South Island or to the North Island, think about the following. The South Island of New Zealand suggests the tourists excursions to New Zealand’s highest peak, impresses the visitors by rainforests, golden beaches, creeping glaciers, and remote fiords. The North Island is a home of Auckland, the largest city of the country, and the capital city of Wellington.
